Our story

Built on silk, still weaving people together.

Leek grew rich on silk — for two centuries its mills wove thread for the world, and the town's Georgian merchants built houses to match. The Silk House is one of them: a former merchant's townhouse now doing three things at once, in the way this building always has — putting people up, hosting their celebrations, and pouring their drinks.

Most guests only ever meet one side of the house. We think the best nights happen when all three come together.

Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am. Early check-in and late check-out (until midday) can both be arranged in advance for a small supplement, subject to availability.

Yes — both early check-in and a midday late check-out are available for a supplement, but they need to be arranged with us beforehand rather than requested on the day.

How many guests can the function room hold for a wedding?

Our function room seats up to 50 guests for a formal sit-down wedding breakfast.

Can we hold our wedding ceremony at The Silk House?

We host wedding receptions rather than ceremonies on-site, so couples typically marry elsewhere and celebrate with us afterwards.

Is the walled garden included with a wedding booking?

Yes — the walled garden, our top tier garden option, is included as part of the wedding package.

Is the main bar open to non-residents?

Yes, our main bar is open to residents and non-residents alike, so locals and visitors are equally welcome to drop in.

What are the bar opening hours?

The bar opens from 4pm daily. Closing time varies from night to night, so do pop in or give us a call if you're planning a later visit.

Is there parking available?

There's no dedicated on-site car park, but guests can park on the street directly outside (restricted to 30 minutes between 8am and 6pm) or use nearby public parking for longer stays.

Are dogs or other pets allowed?

We're not able to accommodate pets in our guest rooms, but well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you in the main bar.

Is The Silk House accessible for guests with mobility needs?

As a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse, The Silk House has stairs throughout and no lift, which is part of its historic charm but does mean it isn't step-free. If you have specific access needs, please get in touch before booking so we can talk through what would work best for your stay.

What is your cancellation policy?

To keep our rates as competitive as possible, we operate a zero cancellations policy, so please make sure your dates are firm before booking.

When is payment taken?

Full payment is taken at the time of booking.
